Bio

I am a truly transdisciplinary thinker, scholar, and professional with a diverse academic and experiential background. I studied literature and public policy at American University and worked in communications for four years. I have completed a Certificate in Native Plant Studies from the North Carolina Botanical Garden and studied ethnobotany at the Blue Ridge School of Herbal Medicine. I am also a published poet and essayist and am actively involved in several citizen science ecology projects in the Durham area, including regular population surveys for the Carolinas Butterfly Monitoring Program.

My work bridges science, policy, and the humanities, and I am excited to pursue a master’s degree in Climate Change and Society. I am particularly interested in climate adaptation, environmental law and policy, GIS, sustainable development, and nature-based solutions. I believe that the specific contains the universal, and I approach global challenges through a local lens, with a long-term goal of contributing to climate adaptation policy at the city and state levels.
